Thailand is where most of our travellers book their first trip, and it's easy to see why. You get temples and night markets in Bangkok, mountains and elephant sanctuaries around Chiang Mai, and three different island coasts to choose between. Doing it well on your own timeline usually means weeks of research and a group of friends who can't all get the same time off.
Our Thailand group tours solve that part. Every trip is built for solo travellers aged 18 to 40, run in small groups, with a Trip Host who's with you from the welcome dinner to the last stop. You get the route, the guesthouses, the trains and the transfers sorted, and you still get free time at almost every stop to go off and do your own thing.
Below are our current Thailand trips, from a one-week taster to the full three-week route north to south.

Every group is capped at a size small enough that you'll know everyone's name by day three, and every trip has a Trip Host who travels with the group from start to finish. In Thailand, that's a big part of what makes it different from booking a local tour company yourself: one person carries the plan for the whole trip, sorts out anything that goes sideways, and is there for the 11pm street food run as much as the temple visit. Where we use local guides for a specific activity, such as diving instruction or a trek, they're licensed and briefed by us, and your Trip Host is still part of the group.
Rooms are twin-share or small dorms with travellers of the same gender, split across social hostels and guesthouses, with private rooms available on request on most trips. Meals are a mix of included group meals and free time to pick your own, so you're never stuck eating the same thing as everyone else every night.
If you've only got a week, Thailand Express covers Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Phangan without feeling rushed. If diving is the reason you're going, Thailand Diving Tour gets you a full PADI certification and two island stops. Want the north and the islands without picking one, take Thailand in 2 Weeks. If you'd rather train than tan, Muay Thai & Islands puts five days of real training at a Muay Thai camp before the beach part starts. And if you've got three weeks free, Thailand Complete runs the whole north-to-south route in one trip.
A few of our Thailand trips are timed around a specific date, like Songkran or Loy Krathong and Yi Peng, so if there's a festival you want to be at, check the departure dates before you commit to a route.
December through February is the easiest stretch: dry, warm, and cool enough in the north to sleep well without air-con. June to August works if you're pairing the north with the Gulf islands (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao), since their wet season runs later than the rest of the country. What to avoid depends on your route: the north gets smoky from late February to April, the Gulf islands get their rain in November, and the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) is wettest from May to October. Our Thailand best time to visit guide breaks it down month by month if you want to match a trip to a specific window.
Our groups are solo travellers aged 18 to 40, most of them travelling alone and looking for people to actually do the trip with. Some come straight off a flight never having met another traveller, others have done a group trip before and know what they want from it. What they have in common is wanting a real Thailand trip, not a bus tour, with enough structure to not waste days figuring out logistics and enough free time to make it feel like their own.
Reserving your place is free. Once enough travellers have joined and a departure is confirmed, usually around 10 people, we email you a confirmation with an invoice for the full trip price, paid by bank transfer in your currency within 7 days. We take payment in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD and INR. Exact prices are on each trip page, since they vary by route, season and length.
Thailand is one of the more established places in Southeast Asia for solo travel, and it's why so many people choose it for a first group trip. Travelling with a group and a Trip Host who knows the route adds a layer that solo backpacking doesn't have, though no trip can promise to remove every risk, and we don't claim to.
Most nationalities can enter Thailand visa-free for a set number of days or apply for an e-visa in advance, and the rules vary by passport and change from time to time. Check our Thailand visa guide for current requirements before you book flights.
Your Trip Host leads and travels with the group for the entire trip. They're not a local tour guide who joins for a day; they're with you from the first evening to the last. Where a trip includes a licensed activity, like scuba diving or trekking, a licensed local guide runs that part alongside your Trip Host.
Groups are kept small by design so the trip still feels social rather than crowded. Exact group size varies by trip and is on each trip's page.
Accommodation, the activities and transport listed on each trip's itinerary, and a set number of included meals are all covered in the price. Flights to and from Thailand, travel insurance, and meals outside those included are on you, along with any optional add-ons.
Yes. Most of our travellers book solo. You'll share a twin or dorm room with someone of the same gender unless you pay for a private room, and the group itself is built from other solo travellers in your age range.
Every trip builds in free time so you're not marched from stop to stop, but the route, accommodation and group activities are fixed once you book. If you want to add days before or after, most travellers do that on their own and just meet the group at the start point.
Yes to both. Thailand Diving Tour starts from zero and takes you through a full PADI Open Water course. Muay Thai & Islands splits training by ability, so complete beginners train alongside people who've done it before, and nobody is put in the ring to fight.
Popular routes and festival-dated trips like Songkran can fill up months ahead, so reserving early gets you the best choice of dates. Reserving is free, and the invoice for the full price only goes out once your departure is confirmed.
