Sri Lanka fits an entire trip's worth of scenery into a country you can cross in a day: ancient rock fortresses, hill country tea plantations, the train to Ella, and a south coast lined with surf breaks and beaches. It's compact enough to see a lot in a short trip, but the roads and the trains are slower than the map suggests, and getting the route right on your own takes more planning than the country's size implies.
Our Sri Lanka group tours are built around that. Every trip is for solo travellers aged 18 to 40, run in a small group with a Trip Host who's with you from the first stop to the last. The route, the stays and the transport are handled, with free time built in so you're not stuck to a fixed schedule the whole way.
Here are our current Sri Lanka trips, from a week-long express route to a dedicated surf camp.

Your Trip Host travels with the group for the entire trip and leads it in person. A licensed local agency and licensed local guide deliver the ground services our Sri Lanka trips need, such as surf instruction or a local driver for the hill country roads, working alongside your Trip Host throughout.
Rooms are twin-share or small dorms with travellers of the same gender, across social hostels and guesthouses, with private rooms available on request on most trips. Meals are a mix of included group meals and free time to find your own.
If you've got a week, Sri Lanka Express covers Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and the south coast without wasting a day. 12-Day Sri Lanka Tour extends that same core route for a slower pace through the culture, the hill country and the coast. If surfing is the point, Sri Lanka Surf Camp is built around coached sessions at Weligama's beginner-friendly break, with a slower close at Hiriketiya and a day trip to Galle Fort.
Sri Lanka has two monsoon systems on opposite sides of the island, so the best time depends on which coast you're visiting. The south and west coasts, including Weligama, Hiriketiya, Galle and the hill country, are driest from December to March. The east coast has the opposite pattern and is best from May to September. Most of our current trips focus on the south, hill country and cultural triangle, so December to March is generally the easier window for them.
Our groups are solo travellers aged 18 to 40, a lot of them picking Sri Lanka because it packs so much into a shorter trip than neighbouring countries. What they share is wanting a proper route through the country with a group to do it alongside, rather than a resort stay on one stretch of coast.
Reserving your place is free. Once enough travellers have joined and a departure is confirmed, usually around 10 people, we email you a confirmation with an invoice for the full trip price, paid by bank transfer in your currency within 7 days. We accept USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD and INR. Prices vary by trip and length, so check the individual trip page for current pricing.
Sri Lanka is a manageable country for solo travel, and a small group with a Trip Host adds a level of support that going it alone doesn't have. No trip removes every risk, and we don't claim it does.
Most nationalities need an ETA (electronic travel authorisation) before arrival, and requirements can change, so check current rules for your passport before booking flights.
Your Trip Host is with the group for the whole trip. A licensed local agency and licensed local guide handle activities like surf instruction and local driving, working alongside your Trip Host.
Groups are kept small so the trip stays social. Exact size is on each trip's page.
Accommodation, the transport and activities on the itinerary, and a set number of included meals. Flights to Sri Lanka, travel insurance and meals outside those included aren't covered.
No. Sri Lanka Surf Camp starts with coached lessons at Weligama, a beginner-friendly break, so you don't need prior experience.
Yes, most of our travellers do. You'll share a twin room or dorm with someone of the same gender unless you book a private room, and the group is other solo travellers in your age range.
Sri Lanka currently runs as its own set of trips rather than combined with an India route. Check our India tours hub if you want to plan both as separate trips.
The dry season from December to March is our busiest window for Sri Lanka, so reserving ahead gives you the best choice of dates. Reserving is free, and the invoice for the full price only goes out once your departure is confirmed.
