If three or four weeks off is rare for you, it makes sense to see more than one country while you have the time. Booking that yourself means coordinating flights, overland crossings and visas across borders that don't always line up neatly, on top of the usual work of planning each country separately.
Our Southeast Asia group tours are built to cross borders without you having to manage any of that. Every trip is for solo travellers aged 18 to 40, run in a small group with a Trip Host who stays with you for the entire route, through every country it passes through, not just one leg of it.
Below are our current multi-country trips, each one built around a real border crossing rather than a stopover.

Your Trip Host travels with the group from the first country to the last and is the one constant across every border crossing, flight and overnight train. A licensed local agency and licensed local guide deliver the ground services in each country the trip visits, working alongside your Trip Host rather than swapping out as you cross a border.
Rooms are twin-share or small dorms with travellers of the same gender, in social hostels and guesthouses, with private rooms available on request on most trips. Meals are a mix of included group meals and free time to pick your own.
If you've got twelve days and want a taste of two countries, Thailand & Laos Slow Boat runs from Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai across to Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane. For three weeks across two very different countries, Thailand & Vietnam runs from Bangkok and the north down to Koh Phangan, then flies to Hanoi for Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City, and Bangkok to Bali covers the same Thailand leg before flying on to Bali, Nusa Penida and the Gili Islands. For the full route, the Southeast Asia Grand Loop runs 28 days across three countries: Thailand's north, Laos by train, and Vietnam from Ha Long Bay down to Ho Chi Minh City.
A multi-country trip means finding a window that works reasonably well across every stop, since no single month is ideal everywhere at once. December to February is generally the best overlap for a Thailand-Laos-Vietnam route: dry and cool in Thailand's north and in Laos, and one of the better windows for Vietnam's north and centre too. If your trip includes Bali, the dry season there runs April to October, so a Thailand-to-Bali trip works best scheduled inside that overlap. Check the country guides linked below for the fuller month-by-month picture, and each trip's own page for its specific departure dates.
Our groups are solo travellers aged 18 to 40 who've got the time for a longer trip and want to make the most of it, rather than restricting themselves to one country because that's what fits in a normal holiday. Some are between jobs or on a career break, others have saved up annual leave specifically for a trip this size. What they share is wanting the border crossings handled for them so the trip stays about the places, not the logistics.
Reserving your place is free. Once enough travellers have joined and a departure is confirmed, usually around 10 people, we email you a confirmation with an invoice for the full trip price, paid by bank transfer in your currency within 7 days. We accept USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD and INR. Multi-country trips run longer and cost more than a single-country route, so check each trip page for current pricing.
Border crossings on our trips are handled by licensed local agencies and guides in each country, alongside your Trip Host, rather than left for you to navigate alone. No trip can promise to remove every risk, and we don't claim it does.
Yes, visa requirements are set separately by each country and vary by passport. Check the visa guide for each country your trip visits well before you book flights: our Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia guides link out to current visa information.
Your Trip Host is with the group for the entire trip, across every country it visits. Licensed local agencies and licensed local guides handle ground services in each country, working alongside your Trip Host rather than replacing them at the border.
Groups stay small on purpose, which matters even more on a longer multi-country trip. Exact group size is listed on each trip's page.
Accommodation, the transport and activities on the itinerary across every country, plus a set number of included meals. Flights into your first country and out of your last, travel insurance, and any meals outside those included aren't covered.
Yes, most of our travellers do. You'll share a twin room or dorm with someone of the same gender unless you book a private room, and the group is other solo travellers in your age range.
They range from twelve days for Thailand & Laos Slow Boat up to 28 days for the Southeast Asia Grand Loop. Each trip page has the exact length and route.
Check our single-country hubs instead: Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Bali all run their own shorter trips.
Multi-country trips run for several weeks and cross peak season windows, so it's worth reserving well ahead to get your preferred departure. Reserving is free, and the invoice for the full price only goes out once your departure is confirmed.
