Plenty of people land in Thailand wanting to try Muay Thai, and plenty end up doing a single tourist session that barely counts as training. A real camp means structured sessions with proper Thai trainers over several days, which is a different trip to plan than a normal island-hopping itinerary, and most people don't want to sort out camp bookings and accommodation on their own for something they've never done before.
Our Muay Thai trip in Thailand is built around actual training, with the rest of the trip planned around it. It's for solo travellers aged 18 to 40, run in a small group with a Trip Host who's with you throughout, alongside the camp's own Thai trainers for the training itself.

Muay Thai & Islands is currently our one dedicated Muay Thai trip, a ten-day route built around five days of real training at a camp on Koh Phangan. Your Trip Host travels with the group for the entire trip, and the camp's own Thai trainers run the two sessions a day, split by ability so complete beginners train alongside people who've trained before. Nobody is put in the ring to fight. Once training ends, the trip moves into a boat day at Bottle Beach and a full day at Ang Thong Marine Park.
You'll share a twin room or small dorm with someone of the same gender, with private rooms available on request. Meals are a mix of included group meals and free time to find your own.
Koh Phangan and the wider Gulf islands have their driest, calmest stretch from roughly December to September, with the rain concentrated in October and November. Training happens indoors and outdoors at the camp regardless of light rain, but the boat days to Bottle Beach and Ang Thong are more enjoyable in good weather. See our Thailand best time to visit guide for the fuller picture.
Our groups are solo travellers aged 18 to 40, a mix of people who've never thrown a punch and people who've trained Muay Thai at home and want to do it properly in Thailand. What they share is wanting real training rather than a one-off session, alongside a group to spend the island days with once training's done.
Reserving your place is free. Once enough travellers have joined and a departure is confirmed, usually around 10 people, we email you a confirmation with an invoice for the full trip price, paid by bank transfer in your currency within 7 days. We accept USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD and INR. Check the trip page for current pricing.
No. Training is split by ability, so complete beginners train alongside people who've done it before, and nobody is put in the ring to fight.
The camp's own Thai trainers run the sessions, two a day during the training block. Your Trip Host is with the group throughout the trip but isn't the one leading the training.
Five days of training are built into the ten-day Muay Thai & Islands trip, followed by island time on Koh Phangan.
No. Nobody on our trip is put in the ring to fight; the focus is on training.
The trip moves into a boat day at Bottle Beach and a full day at Ang Thong Marine Park, plus the usual free time.
Groups are kept small so training stays personal. Exact size is on the trip page.
Yes, most people do. You'll share a twin room or dorm with someone of the same gender unless you book a private room, and the group is other solo travellers in your age range.
Two training sessions a day is a real commitment, and the trip page lists the physical rating and details so you can judge if it fits your current fitness level.
Training camp spots are limited by the camp's own capacity, so it's worth reserving ahead. Reserving is free, and the invoice for the full price only goes out once your departure is confirmed.
