Bali has some of the most consistent, beginner-friendly surf in Southeast Asia, and Canggu's beach breaks and the Bukit's reef breaks in Uluwatu both draw people back year after year. Booking a surf camp from abroad is its own kind of gamble though: you don't know the instructors, you don't know the other guests, and a bad camp can mean a week of standing around waiting for a board.
Our Bali surf trips are group trips first, with real coaching built in rather than bolted on. Every trip is for solo travellers aged 18 to 40, run in a small group with a Trip Host who's with you the whole way, alongside certified local surf instructors for the coaching itself.
Here are our current trips that include surfing in Bali.

Your Trip Host travels with the group for the entire trip and handles everything outside the water: accommodation, transport, the rest of the itinerary. In the water, a licensed local agency provides certified local surf instructors, split by ability so beginners aren't paired with people who've surfed for years.
You'll share a twin room or small dorm with someone of the same gender, with private rooms available on request on most trips. Board hire and lesson structure vary by trip, so check the specific trip page for what's included.
Bali Surf & Yoga is our dedicated surf trip: two coached lessons in Canggu, two more days on the Bukit's reef breaks in Uluwatu, and a slower close in Ubud with daily yoga, built for people who want to actually get better rather than take one lesson and move on. If surfing is one part of a wider Bali trip rather than the main focus, Bali Express includes a Canggu surf lesson alongside the Mount Batur sunrise trek and Nusa Penida, and Bali & Gili Islands runs that same Canggu surf session as part of a longer twelve-day route out to the Gili Islands.
Bali's dry season, April to October, generally has the most consistent conditions for both Canggu's beach breaks and Uluwatu's reef breaks, with less rain to interrupt a session. Both spots work for beginners at the right tide and swell, which is exactly what the coaching on our trips is built to read for you. See our Bali best time to visit guide for the fuller seasonal picture.
Our groups are solo travellers aged 18 to 40, a mix of complete beginners who've never stood on a board and people who've surfed a handful of times and want proper coaching to move past the basics. What they share is wanting real instruction, not a single lesson to say they tried it, alongside a group to spend the rest of the trip with.
Reserving your place is free. Once enough travellers have joined and a departure is confirmed, usually around 10 people, we email you a confirmation with an invoice for the full trip price, paid by bank transfer in your currency within 7 days. We accept USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD and INR. Check the specific trip page for current pricing.
No. Our coached sessions are split by ability, so complete beginners and people who've surfed before are both catered for on the same trip.
Bali Surf & Yoga has the most dedicated surf time, with coached sessions in both Canggu and Uluwatu. Bali Express and Bali & Gili Islands include one Canggu session as part of a broader itinerary.
Uluwatu's reef breaks are more advanced than Canggu's beach breaks in general, which is why our coaching splits groups by ability and matches conditions to your level. Check the trip page for the specific spots and levels covered.
A licensed local agency provides certified local surf instructors for the coaching. Your Trip Host is with the group throughout but isn't the one running the surf instruction itself.
This varies by trip, so check the specific trip page for exactly what's included before booking.
Yes, most people do. You'll share a twin room or dorm with someone of the same gender unless you book a private room, and the group is other solo travellers in your age range.
Groups are kept small so coaching stays personal rather than one instructor managing a crowd. Exact size is on each trip's page.
Dry-season dates (April to October) are the most popular for surfing, so reserving ahead gives you the best choice of departures. Reserving is free, and the invoice for the full price only goes out once your departure is confirmed.
